Rainy/Sick Day

With the seasons slowly changing over here, the weather varies everyday. A couple of days ago it decided to pour, which means we are stuck in our tiny little apartment all day!!! Perfect timing for the rain though, because Brady got his first cold and we were going to be stuck inside anyways :( I guess being stuck is good for family bonding, but it sure gets challenging to entertain ourselves. By early evening we were running out of things to do, until we decided to be a little "adventurous"!

For those of you who do not know my wonderful husband very well, he sometimes gets some crazy ideas and loves to buy the most random things (especially if they are on sale). He is a sucker for those Amazon Deals of the Day. Well, a couple of weeks ago we were at Costco and there was a tent on display. DJ saw the tent and thought it was pretty cool! He said "The kids will love it. Let's get it!" For those of you who know me of course aren't surprised to hear my response... "When are we ever going to use it... especially in JAPAN!" But he was determined to buy it and put it up for the kids to play in. And seeing that it was on sale for $35 it ended up coming home with us :)

So yes, since we were running out of things to do we decided to put the tent up! Now DJ and I do not do projects well together, so I was planning on just letting DJ do this since it was "his thing"! Well once the tent was laid out (and learning that ONE of us had never put a tent up in their life), it became a group project. Why we thought we could ever fit a tent in our "100 square foot" apartment is beyond me! After about 35 minutes, putting poles in and out of holes (I guess you have to read the directions not just look at pictures :), and frustration ("Are we really putting this up? and Let's just take it down! was said several times) the tent was up!!! With no room for anything else to fit in the house... ha ha! (Actually DJ was stuck in the room because he couldn't get out with the tent in the way!!! And we had to turn the tent around because the door was facing the wrong direction.) Let's just say I AM SO GLAD IT WAS NOT MY IDEA!!! But it was SO worth it in the end. The kids had a blast in there. We filled the tent with toys and balls, played games, and ordered pizza so we could eat dinner in the tent. It ended up being a really fun time! But I could put money on the fact that we will be sending the tent home to use in our backyard and we won't be putting it up in Japan again :)

After you see the smiles on these faces, you will see how it was all worth it!

8 Months Old...

last week! Oops!!! I have been meaning to write this for awhile but I keep getting sidetracked.

Brady Boy is 8 months old! He is getting to be an adventurous little boy. Brady's favorite form of transportation is still the army crawl but he does get up on his hands and knees and rocks back and forth. He is crawling everywhere and getting into just about EVERYTHING!!! He is a very determined little guy. If he sees something he wants, he will NOT stop until he gets it. And he usually gets it :) He is able to climb up and down the little stairs we have going into each room. He will even climb up us to try to reach something! We have to watch everything he does now and everything we leave around. He LOVES to explore, find, and put in his mouth! Lately his favorite things to eat are his sister's crayons and stickers. Not so good. Thankfully it is not spoiling his appetite :) He still eats a ton and is moving on to eating protein and dairy. He loves black beans and yogurt. He is doing awesome with feeding himself snacks and is eating chunky food. Pretty soon he will be able to bite things, since his top teeth are just poking through! (Man, I don't even think Tessa had a tooth at this age and Brady will soon have 4!) He is still sleeping like a champ, which we LOVE :) My favorite time of day with him is when he wakes up in the morning. He has the biggest smile on his face when I open the door and he loves to cuddle with me for a little while. We lay on the floor or in my bed and he snuggles right up on my shoulder and lays there for 10 to 15 minutes. It is the BEST! He loves his sister more and more everyday. He just thinks she is the funniest thing ever and loves to sit and play with her. (It is the coolest thing to watch when your kids are able to play together for the first time! DJ and I love to sneak in and watch what the two of them are doing. It is usually Tessa being a crazy monkey and Brady laughing hysterically:) Brady has mastered being able to sit up for a long period of time and is almost able to get out of a sitting position on his own. Hopefully he will master that skill this month!

Here are pictures of our Happy Little Guy over the past month!
