Complete Game!

I just wanted to write a quick little note to brag about my daddy :)
He did really good in the last game he pitched!!! He threw a complete game win, giving up only 1 run! I didn't get to watch the entire game because I had to go to bed but when I was watching I was cheering him on.
I am his #1 Fan!

DJ's Baseball

DJ has been pitching really well! Unfortunately, his team can't score him any runs to help him out. If he is lucky they will score 1 or 2 runs for him but that's it. Last night he pitched and did awesome! He went 7 innings with 2 hits and 1 run. But he didn't get the win because his closer blew it in the 9th to tie the game :( The good news is that they did end up winning the game 3-2. We are proud of how well he has been doing. He has his 2 personal cheerleaders cheering him on... Tessa being the loudest!

Tessa loves the mascots... all 10 of them! She screams and gets so excited when they come by the family room.

DJ Gets the Win!

DJ pitched again last night in Tokyo against the Nippon-Ham Fighters. They were the first place team. DJ did awesome again! He pitched 7 innings. He gave up a 2 run home run in the second inning but the rest of the innings were scoreless. He had 5 strikeouts, 1 walk, 5 hits, and 2 runs. The Hawks won 3-2 giving DJ a 2-0 record. He pitches again next Wednesday on the road against the Seibu Lions. Wish him luck!

The following is a website you could go to to read about the game :)

Watching Daddy in Action!

Tessa got to watch Daddy play baseball for the first time at his game on Wednesday night. This was the first game of his that he pitched that she has been too. She got to watch him in action from the stands and cheer him on... which she actually did do! She was yelling and talking the entire 3rd and 4th inning. All of the people around us thought it was so funny. I think they watched her more than the game :) DJ did well. He pitched 6.1 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, 4 walks, and 6 strikeouts! The game ended in a 2-2 tie. (Yes they have ties in baseball over here. The game ends at 12 innings even if it is a tie. It is kinda nice...ha ha) Tessa made it through DJ's innings and actually watched most of the time. The rest of the time she spent staring at all of the lights and people (Little Miss Nosy). We went downstairs once he was done because it was so hot in the dome. Poor girl was bright red and sticky, but she hung in there for Daddy. We had a really good time and can't wait to watch him more. Way to go Daddy! We are very proud of you!

Hero of the Game...

Now that the season has officially started, today was the first game that DJ pitched. He did awesome!!! Unfortunately, they were on the road in a city called Sendai, so we couldn't actually be there to see it but we watched it on TV. DJ threw 7 innings and had 6 or 7 strikeouts, 1 hit, and no runs. He got the win! They won 7-0 which was awesome considering they lost to the same team the night before 6-0. He did so well that he was named the "Hero of the Game" which is like the MVP back home. We are so proud of him! What a great way to start the season :)

Sorry I had to take pictures of the TV! (I know I'm a dork) The pictures are of DJ pitching, Tessa watching Daddy on TV, and DJ's interview for being The Hero of the Game :)

Daddy's Surprise!

DJ surprised both of us the other night when he showed us his new baseball glove. If you look at the glove closely in the pictures you can see Tessa's name! I guess here all of the Japanese players put their kids names in their baseball gloves. This year DJ got to do the same thing. I'm sure Tessa will love it when she gets older. She is so lucky... I never got my name put in his glove :) Ha Ha

7th Inning Stretch

Tessa experienced her first baseball game... well to be exact her first Japanese baseball game which is quite an experience. For those of you not familiar with Japanese baseball, the fans are very passionate about the game. They stand and cheer all game long. They even have songs for each individual player that they sing when they come up to bat. Tessa got a kick out of watching all of the people and had so much fun looking at all of the bright lights and colors. She also loved the 7th inning stretch. They are much different here. They don't sing good ol' Take Me Out To The Ball Game! Here during the first half of the 7th inning the fans are blowing up yellow balloons (not tying them off) and holding on to them to get ready for the 7th inning stretch. Tessa loved watching all of the balloons around the stadium. Then when it is time the fans start singing the team song and at the end of it they let the balloons go in the air. The balloons all go in the air and fall as they deflate! It is crazy to see all of the balloons flying and falling down. Tessa absolutely loved it!
