Calling All Lizard Catchers

So this morning after breakfast we had quite a surprise! We were going about our business getting dressed to go out for our morning walk when our little visitor appeared. As I was getting ready in my bathroom, Tessa was with me throwing a ball around when she made a weird screeching noise. I thought to myself please say you didn't hurt yourself again! I turned to look at her and I saw a face I have never seen before. Her eyes were huge and she was looking past me with a look saying "What in the world?!?!" I turned around to see a big LIZARD running across my bathroom into my closet!!! I screamed and grabbed her and jumped up on my bed... I know I am such a CHICKEN. So here we are, the three of us sitting on my bed not knowing what to do. One thing was for sure I was not getting down and I was not catching this thing. So I did what any girl would do, call my husband. Only one small problem... he is just a little far away. When I talked to him he just laughed and was frustrated with me of how scared I was :) Granted it was like 3 in the morning his time (sorry babe). After that plan failed, I did the next thing anyone would do. I called my Mom and Dad. My Mom because she was home and she needed to get over to my house ASAP, and my Dad (who was at work) to help me come up with a plan. Of course my Dad gave me many ways to catch a lizard. My favorite, that I would LOVE to see him try to do, is to take a fishing rod and tie a noose at the end to try and catch him... ha ha. (Thanks Dad)

So soon after, my Mom arrived. Let me just tell you, my mom is as big of a chicken as I am. So needless to say, we were the worst two people to have to catch this thing. So once we got brave enough we walked into the bathroom to check it out.
Then catching the lizard went something like this:
1. Figure out where it was! (Through the crack of the door we located the lizard.)
2. Get a big tupperware and put it over it to trap it. (It actually took us awhile until we got brave enough to actually walk in the closet. Once we got in we slowly moved the door so the lizard didn't get scared and run somewhere. Let me tell you, there are plenty of things for this lizard to hide in. So we slowly approached the lizard and got the tupperware over it. We then both ran out to catch our breath.)
3. Next, we put weights on top of the tupperware so it didn't get knocked over or the lizard didn't get out. (We are so smart!)
4. Then we needed to slide a piece of cardboard underneath to trap it in... only one problem we couldn't slide the cardboard underneath. So we had to try many things. It went from a spatula, to a kabob stick, to a grill fork, and then back to the cardboard.
5. We finally got it and we trapped the lizard. (We were so proud!)
6. Now we had to get it outside. So we then got a pizza stone and slid it underneath to make sure the cover was sturdy enough to get it outside without dropping it. My mom carried the pizza stone and I held the tupperware down with one hand. The entire way out of the house my mom was screaming "Hold on tight I don't want the lizard to jump on me!" :) We took the lizard out to the street to let it free... but the dumb lizard didn't even move. It stayed there for like an hour. I hope it went FAR FAR away!!!
6. We cheered because the lizard was out of the house!!! It only took us 2 hours :)

Thanks mom for coming to my rescue :)

One Thing After The Other

* I don't have any pictures for this post but I had to write it down for memory purposes.

On Saturday, Tessa was playing around in the kitchen. She has her own drawer and cabinet she is allowed to play in. Well, today she didn't follow the rules and went into a different cabinet without me seeing. (She is normally very good at staying in "her" drawers.) While she was exploring she found my the blending cup for my Frappe Maker (it is a little blender cup with a blade in it)! I took it away from her and she went about her business playing with her toys and entertaining herself. As she was playing I noticed all some weird stuff getting on her toys. I looked closer and she had blood all over. She sliced her finger on the blade!!! She didn't even cry or even make a peep about it. But it had to of hurt because it was gushing blood. I had a really hard time getting it to stop. So I went and cleaned it up and found a butterfly bandaid. I put that on and covered it with a normal bandaid to keep the pressure on it. It finally stopped bleeding and I went and put two new bandaids on it. I think the bandaids bothered her more than the cut. She kept playing with it and holding it up with a look on her face saying "What is this?". But it stayed on all day... that is until dinner. For those of you that don't know, my little peanut can eat. She loves her food. So while she was eating her mashed potatoes she gave up on her spoon and dug in with her hands. As she was eating I decided to wipe her hands and I noticed her bandaids were no longer on. I freaked out and started to search for them ... but they were nowhere to be found. SHE ATE THEM!!!! Seriously! They are somewhere in her stomach as we speak. I hope to see them soon :)

Just Like Mommy

Tessa is starting to become such a big girl! She is starting to realize she can do new things, which amazes me everyday. Every morning while I get ready for the day Tessa loves to play in my bathroom. She has her own special drawer that she plays in and truly has a blast doing it. This morning as I was getting ready to go out for our morning walk I notice little eyes watching me. When I looked down I realized that Tessa was doing all the things that I was doing. While I was brushing my hair she grabbed a comb and stared brushing her hair. When I put a headband on my head she found one just like it and tried over and over to put it on her head. (It just kept falling off because it was too big :)

She even wanted to wear sunglasses just like Mommy on her walk. She never ever keeps her sunglasses on for more than 5 seconds but today they stayed on our entire walk! I guess I better watch what I do from now on :)

Hey, that's MY seat!!!

Tessa has become obsessed with Brady's chairs. She loves climbing in his car seat and his bouncer chair. I walk into a room and there she is sitting in his chair laughing because she knows it is her brother's. (Poor Brady...it is already starting)

This morning I walked into my room to find Elmo sitting in Brady's car seat, and Tessa around the corner laughing. She carried that big Elmo chair from her room just to put it in his seat. She was so proud of herself.

2 Months Old

Yes that is right... Brady is 2 months old and getting bigger and bigger. I took him to his 2 month well check at 7 weeks and he was 12lbs 15oz (95th percentile), 23 3/4 inches (90th percentile), and his head was 14cm (80th percentile). What a BIG boy!!! I don't think Tessa weighed 13lbs until she was around 6 months. How crazy... we have one Peanut and one Chunko :) I love it!!!

This month Brady started to become more alert and stay awake more. He has learned how to give us BIG smiles and has started to "talk" to us. He is getting stronger and does a good job at Tummy Time. He also likes to play on his mat and swat at his toys. He even gets lucky sometimes and actually grabs a hold of one of them every now and then. He is sleeping like a champ. His best night so far was from 10pm to 6:45am, but he usually only makes it until 5:45am. But I couldn't ask for more, especially since he falls right back to sleep and I usually end up waking him up to eat around 10am everyday. He is such a calm, kickback boy. We just love him to pieces :)

Exploring!

I am so happy we found a house that has a nice front yard and a huge backyard for our kids to play in. No more rocks and concrete for them to look at. They finally have lots of grass to tumble around in, space to run wild, and trees to one day climb in.

I always knew that Tessa liked getting out of the house and going for walks or playing outside, but until we moved to our new house I didn't realize how much she LOVES it. Everyday Tessa is dying to go outside and run around. I love listening to her excited giggle as we get our shoes on to go outside and seeing the huge smile on her face as we play, and yes it even makes me laugh (inside) when she gets so mad when it is time to come in!!! (Oh the lovely temper... she is just like her Dad!)

She has discovered so many new things being able to play in the backyard. Her favorite new spot to explore is down at the very bottom of our yard by the batting cage. She has discovered a little path just her size to walk on :) She also has room to finally ride her cars and scooters that she has been waiting to get on since she got them for her birthday.

Here are a few pictures of her exploring outside!

And don't forget Brady taking it all in while he watches his sister playing!
