Is No Fun!!!
We had a wonderful Easter weekend planned. We were going to go to the egg hunt at a local park with our cousins on Saturday morning and then head down to my sister's house where the whole family would have a fun dinner and color Easter eggs! The plan was to have a big sleepover and wake up to see what the Easter Bunny had left for us...
But we only made it to the morning egg hunt:(
I knew Tessa was not her normal self this past week. She has had a little bit of a runny nose and has not wanted to eat the last couple of days (and our girl loves to eat :) But overall she was in a great mood and playing around. But after the egg hunt I noticed she was itching her neck a lot. I looked and saw she had a rash all along her hairline, behind her ears, and on her neck. The rash was also on her belly and back. So we found ourselves in urgent care (to have one of the worst medical experiences I have had). As you know, I was not planning on having to go to the doctors and the timing was not the best. It was lunch time and nap time... and I had no snacks, toys, or blankie. Not good! So I had to be creative and unfortunately the doctor was not the fastest since she was having a difficult time diagnosing Tessa. To make a long story short, the doc came in and looked at Tess and told me should be right back to talk to me. After waiting for over 40 minutes for her to come back in to tell me what was wrong with my child, and running out of entertainment, I went out of the room to look for her to find her researching on the internet possible things Tessa may have. I wanted to tell say "Hey lady I could do that!" But I didn't (aren't you proud)! So you can understand why I didn't have to the most confidence in what she had to tell me. Like they say, a mother knows best. She told me she wanted to put her on antibiotics "just in case" and to stay away from people "just in case". But she never actually told me what she had. So I walked out of there 2 hours later with a hungry, sick, sleepy girl and a unhappy, hungry boy thinking my child was going to get everyone around her sick which meant we would need to miss Easter. But after many hours of searching, and bothering very helpful pediatricians whom are friends of friends, I think we figured out what is wrong. The diagnosis is a Viral infection which caused the runny nose, sore throat, and rash. And the good news is that she is only contagious if she has a fever, which she hasn't had!!!
So we decided to stay home from the big egg coloring dinner and sleepover, but are keeping our fingers crossed that in the morning we will be feeling better and will be able to go see what the Easter Bunny left us!
